Fixed braces
The classic, reliable way to perfect your smile
*Pain free* dentistry on Southampton High Street
Fixed braces are a tried-and-true method for straightening teeth.

We’re proud to feature real patients and their genuine transformations on this website, all done voluntarily. A heartfelt thank you to our Hampshire Dentists superstars.

Fixed braces are an effective solution for correcting a wide range of dental issues, from mild misalignments to complex cases. Suitable for all ages, these braces are trusted by orthodontists for their proven reliability and consistent results.
The system works by attaching brackets to each tooth, which are connected by a wire, typically secured with small elastic bands. Over time, your orthodontist adjusts the pressure of the braces to gently shift your teeth into their ideal positions. This gradual pressure encourages your teeth to align correctly and supports bone remodelling. Regular adjustments ensure continuous progress towards a straighter, more balanced smile.
Fixed braces are trusted for their effectiveness in treating a range of dental issues, from minor misalignments to more complex cases, providing dependable results with a personal touch.

Six Month Smiles

After 12 months of wearing clear fixed braces, Carlo achieved a healthier, more balanced smile, giving him peace of mind.

Deep overbite
Carlos’s upper teeth almost completely covered his lower teeth. This kind of overbite can cause long-term dental problems, including increased risk of tooth damage and jaw pain.
Tilted back tooth
Carlos’s back tooth was starting to tilt and drift into the space left by his missing tooth. A tilted tooth can lead to an unbalanced bite, and over time, it may reduce the space needed for a future replacement if one is desired.

Crossbite
James’s lower teeth were initially positioned outside of his upper teeth, a condition known as a crossbite. While complete correction would have required surgical jaw repositioning, we were able to balance his bite effectively during treatment.
Severe crowding
James’s main concern was his overlapping teeth, called crowding.

Your braces questions answered
Both metal and clear fixed braces offer great options for straightening your teeth. Metal braces are strong, cost-effective, and have a proven track record of successfully treating different dental issues. Clear braces are more discreet, with brackets that blend in with your teeth for a less noticeable appearance. They’re a popular choice for those wanting a subtle treatment option.
While options like Invisalign are becoming more popular, Fixed Braces continue to hold their own unique advantages. Fixed Braces are constantly active, eliminating the need to remember to wear them daily. This reliability makes them perfect for individuals leading busy lives who prefer to leave the control in the hands of orthodontic experts. They’re also great for cases which require precise tooth movement control and are particularly effective for addressing complex dental issues.
Choosing the right orthodontic system depends on what you need and what fits best with your life. When you come in for a consultation, we’ll look at your teeth and talk about your preferences. Together, we’ll find the best fit for you.
We provide multiple types of Fixed Braces to make sure we have the right option for you. Damon braces are a little bit different as they have a slide mechanism instead of regular elastic ties to hold the wire in place. This innovative design reduces friction, which can mean faster treatment times and fewer trips to the orthodontist. They’re also known for being more comfortable and easier to clean than other types of braces.
While fixed braces may feel a bit odd or uncomfortable initially and after adjustments, many patients adapt quickly and find any discomfort manageable. Advancements in orthodontic technology have also made modern braces more comfortable than ever before.
Fixed braces are often the most cost-effective orthodontic option. Prices can vary based on factors such as your starting position and the complexity of your treatment. As a rough guide fixed braces start from £2,850 with an average case being around £4,200 in total. During your consultation, we will provide a personalised cost estimate and discuss our flexible finance options.
