We love white fillings

They look natural, unobtrusive and subtle. We also work hard to make them feel comfortable in texture.

I asked about a filling that I wanted to be replaced from a silver one to a white one…I am so glad I did!! The difference it has made to my smile and confidence is amazing!! Again the service and professionalism was second to none. I am so over the moon with both services provided

Fillings offer a fantastic way to to repair cavities, holes and fractures in your teeth. Given the choice of modern filling materials, we choose to provide white (tooth coloured) fillings.

We would rather make teeth look natural and avoid silver/black amalgam fillings which can permanently stain your teeth as they slowly corrode. These metal fillings can be obvious when talking and laughing, it’s no wonder that many of our patients have come to us to replace them with more natural looking alternatives.

Why should you choose Hampshire Dentists in Southampton?

Comfort-first approach

At Hampshire Dentists, your comfort is our top priority. We take great care to ensure that your dental experience is as relaxed and pain-free as possible. We use advanced techniques such as topical anaesthetic gel, pre-warmed local anaesthetic, and undetectable slow injection methods with extra fine needles to minimise discomfort.

Near invisible, aesthetic results

We exclusively use white, tooth-colored fillings to maintain the natural appearance of your teeth. Unlike silver/black amalgam fillings, our fillings are designed to blend seamlessly with your teeth, making them virtually invisible. This ensures that your smile looks natural, even when talking or laughing.

Natural look and function

We don’t just fill cavities — we carefully replicate the natural contours of your tooth. This approach ensures that the filling not only looks great but also functions exactly like a natural tooth should.

White Fillings - Hampshire Dentists Pain Free Dentist in Southampton

One of my filling on my front K9 has had some severe staining due to the time it’s been there, and Dr Hanna has managed to fix it and make it look natural and new again. All done without numbing, and I have to say I didn’t feel a thing. Reading this back I’m shocked myself, and I know that it sounds too good to be true, but as someone terrified of the dentist I want to make it known that this will change your attitude completely. I know that costs can be daunting; however, a white filling is cheaper than when I had to pay my NHS dentist for it.

Dr. Andreas explained everything clearly and gave me advice on which option to choose. I opted for the filling and the receptionist scheduled my appointment for the following week. The entire process went smoothly from start to finish. The tooth required a lot of grinding before the filling, leaving only one third of it remaining, so I know it was a difficult job. Nevertheless, Dr. Andreas and their team did an exceptional job. I would undoubtedly recommend their services, and I give them a 5-star rating without hesitation. Thank you, Dr. Andreas and your team, for the excellent work!

Are there any alternatives?

By using the most up-to-date materials and techniques we ensure adequate strength and longevity for our fillings. This means they are very effective at repairing most teeth.

If your tooth is significantly broken down or under very heavy biting forces or we may recommend an alternative treatment in the long term.

Porcelain or gold inlays

A dental inlay is a custom-made restoration used for larger cavities that endure heavy chewing forces. Made from durable materials like porcelain or gold, inlays are crafted in a lab to fit the cavity perfectly before being bonded in place. They offer superior strength, excellent aesthetics, and can last for many years with proper care.

Ceramic crowns

Unlike a filling or inlay a dental crown is a custom-made cap that completely covers a damaged or weakened tooth, offering protection and restoring its function. Crowns are ideal for teeth with extensive decay or fractures that can’t be restored with fillings. Made from strong materials, they blend seamlessly with your natural teeth while providing long-lasting durability.

What does a filling involve?

Firstly, you’ll be given a local anaesthetic to make the procedure painless.

1. The decay is removed from your tooth, at this stage you will feel vibration and water spray.

2. The filling is then placed in stages, each stage is typically set hard with a blue light.

3. The filling is then polished and adjusted for your bite.

After the treatment you may experience some short-term sensitivity and you will likely be numb for a few hours.

Your questions answered

How long does a filling last?

Dental fillings can be very long lasting, depending on the material used, the location of the filling and your oral hygiene practices. Regular check-ups with your dentist can help ensure your fillings remain in good condition.

Will my filling be noticable?

With our tooth-coloured fillings, they will blend seamlessly with your natural teeth and be almost invisible.

How should I take care of my filling?

The best way to ensure your filling lasts is to maintain a good oral hygiene routine by brushing twice a day, flossing daily, and visiting your dentist regularly.

Roughly how much do fillings cost

Teeth come in all shapes and sizes, so the cost of fillings varies. Our small fillings start from £138. The price may increase for larger or more complex fillings, depending on the extent of the treatment required.
