White Fillings
We love white fillings, also known as composite resin or porcelain inlays. They look natural, unobtrusive and subtle. We also work hard to make them feel comfortable in texture.
On the other hand, we’re not so fond of mercury amalgam due to it’s toxicity, so all our fillings are mercury free! It’s no wonder that many of our patients have come to us to replace their silver fillings with white fillings…
Teeth that are filled with mercury amalgam fillings can be obvious when talking and laughing. Given the choice of modern filling materials, we would rather make teeth look natural and avoid silver/black amalgam fillings which can permanently stain your teeth as they slowly corrode. There are always different views on the safety of mercury in amalgam fillings and many dentists are of the view that metal fillings should be removed and replaced with mercury-free alternatives.
We routinely carry out this procedure using a safe protocol to reduce exposure of patients and staff members to the harmful effects of mercury and gases. Bonding of white fillings may not be suitable in large cavities as the material isn’t as strong as other available materials such as porcelain which perform much better under greater forces and has the advantages of both strength and aesthetics.
