Great news….

If we don’t know each other already, I’m Rob Hanna, Principal Dentist and Owner of Hampshire Dentists. We’ve finally taken the plunge to start a blog.

It’s great to have a space where we can dive into all things dental, answer your questions, share advice and give you a glimpse into our practice.

Whether you’re looking for dental tips, want to know more about our team or have a burning dental question, we hope you’ll find this to be a valuable resource. Please feel free to drop us a line if you have any questions or topics you’d like us to cover. We’re always happy to help.

But before we get move on, we thought we’d leave you with a little story about how it all started. Believe it or not, the practice has been offering:

Dentistry on Southampton High Street for over 40 years!

That’s a lot of dental history, a lot of teeth and hopefully a lot of happy smiles made over the years! But, if truth be told, it hasn’t always been plain sailing. When we first acquired the practice in 2010 (briefly known as City Centre Dental Spa) it had gone through multiple changes of hands in a short period of time. Standards of service had been affected and so the Practice was far quieter than we anticipated on our first day—almost eerily so. But, we kept smiling even as we faced many tough months, lots of baked beans (low sugar, of course), electricity flickering at home and the banks getting increasingly twitchy.

For a while, it was just me, working seven days a week—answering phones, being dental nurse, receptionist and dentist all at once – it felt like a scene from a Benny Hill show. But through it all, we stayed passionate about what we were doing. We kept going, kept smiling and most importantly, we helped others find their smiles too. Hampshire Dentists was officially born and our vision, passion and commitment to exceptional patient care remains the beating heart of everything we do.

Thanks to our patients for their word of mouth support

Looking back, it’s clear that our greatest asset has been word of mouth and the genuine smiles of our patients. These have spread far and wide, thanks to all our cheerleading patients.

We couldn’t have made it this far without the incredible support of our patients. Their trust, encouragement and loyalty have meant everything to us, especially during challenging times. We are deeply grateful for you telling others about us, bringing your friends and family as well as leaving such wonderful reviews on Google and Facebook. Your thank you cards, the (ironic) chocolates, the buns and the gifts for our families have meant the world to us. We can’t express enough how much we appreciate them all.

A fantastic team to be proud of

Fast forward 14 years and here we are with a fantastic team of 19 staff members—more than enough to make our very own Southampton High Street Dental football team.

Our staff, both old and new have phenomenal dedication, passion, enthusiasm, positivity, patience and good humour, to name just a few. We remain ever grateful for all that they do for the practice and to help our patients. The care, TLC and help they offer is second to none and I am so proud to have them all as part of our team.

Celebrating our successes

The cherry on top has been the recognition we’ve received over the years. In 2023, we were honoured to win the Private Dentistry Awards, the crème de la crème of British Dentistry, for Patient Care, after being shortlisted in 2020, 2021 and 2022. We’ve also been recognised as finalists in the Private Dentistry Awards for Best Treatment of Nervous Patients and Best Patient Care in the Dentistry Awards. Locally, we were ranked among the Top Orthodontists in Southampton in 2022 and 2023 and recognised as the Best Business of 2023 with a Certificate of Excellence.

These awards are all testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire team, who consistently strive to ensure our patients receive the highest quality of clinical excellence in a kind, warm and friendly environment.
